She was nervous and pacing wasn’t helping. So many thoughts were running through her mind and none of them gave her a clue as to what to say to Donil. What could she tell him? She had hoped to do things differently but none of it had worked out. She stopped pacing, keeping her back to the door and stared out the glass windows at the beautiful forest.A familiar mental warmth washed over her and Laylah briefly smiled. Miguel was letting her know that she wasn’t alone. That thought brought comfort. He really was a good friend and she was grateful to him for his support.A second mental touch brushed against her mind and she stiffened. The moment had arrived. A sharp rap announced Donil’s arrival and then the door creaked open. All the sounds were loud to her hyper sensitive senses. But that’s the way it was whenever she was near Donil.“Breathe, my Lady.” Miguel’s whispered reminder calmed Laylah and she relaxed. She could do this. She had to be strong.Donil’s power was a low hum against her mind and his scent…it teased her nose. She felt her heart beat speed up in fear and happiness.“Laylah!”Fear rooted her to the spot as her nerve failed her. She could hear his eager footsteps ring out on the tiled floor as he hurried to her.::You can do it, my Lady.::Miguel was right. She had to put everything out in the open, now, before anything else could be settled.Donil stopped, his hand touched her shoulder.“Laylah?”Laylah knew the moment of truth was upon her. Tension and expectancy hummed in the air. Squaring her shoulders, she started to talk. “Donil, I…,”She bit back her words and decided to let her actions speak for her. Taking a deep breath, she turned around to face him, her emotions playing across her face as she waited for his reaction.
